That is how it should be all over the PPI website, if (members) people are truly pirates.

Hi,
I'm currently living in germany but I'm going to emigrate to canada this summer. In germany we already have in two thirds of our states pirate parties. Sadly not in my state. So I hope I can become a member of the pirate party in canada once I'm there and of course once there is one.

Glad to see so many pirates around here. ARR! Let's celebrate th' day o' our conquer.

I'm still around. I know there are plenty of interested folks, but it's just the issue of getting everyone to commit to such a task. Welcome (soon) to Canada, fellow pirate!

I am definitely in on this, high school student out of Markham, Ontario. I agree with the site and wiki, we definitely need those.

I believe I could get some interest going at my school, lot's of people pirates here. Also, I'm planning on learning more about coding and computers in general, so I could probably stitch everything together into one site. Assuming there will be using a Drupal/wiki/forum combo when the site gets started.

This would make one hell of a thing to show off in class, though. "Hello, I helped form the Pirate Party of Canada, an officially registered political party. As a minor."

That's the spirit. If I'm able to sort out the registration materials, I'll compile them. You can organize the party formation, but in order to start the party, there needs to be 200 (I think it's 200) registered members that are of voting age.

Also, I think sometime within the next week I'll be creating a purpose-ready makeshift Canadian forum.

There need to be 250 members who are electors. We will also need to select a leader, 3 party officials and obtain both an auditor and a chief agent. You can see the requirements for party registration here: Registration of Federal Political Parties

I am glad that you have volunteered to begin compiling information needed to register the party. I would suggest we begin by collecting names of prospective members, their contact information, and their electoral district. I would like to help in any way I can.

Howdy all,

I am currently a Montrealer that is interested in this party, I don't really have much political experience, except for help a friend of mine run in an election. I am working on some logo designs (not declaring any official, just fooling around with Inkscape) I will post them here once I have them up.

I do have some marketing training and computer training (but please don't ask me to maintain the code of a website, unless it is installing some other program). I have just started as a French as a second language student.

Umm yeah, that is all I can think of... will post those pictures soon.

I am definitely interested as well.

Not sure what I can do to help, given that I don't have much free time these days. But I will make what time I can, and I would certainly like to be a part of the 250 signatures needed to start this.

Chiming in that I'm interested too and want to help get the ball rolling on this. We need a Pirate Party in Canada before copyright interest groups start getting a stranglehold on the current popular parties.

About the Logo, the maple leaf skull design is cool, but it kills any image of legitimacy and basically makes the idea of the party seem like a joke. The logo with the normal maple leaf works perfectly though, fits in with the standard Pirate Party logo while making it an iconic Canadian symbol.

Anyone have any further contact with the owner of the website? We really need to get him on here to work with us in building up an online community and recruiting new members.

Along with that we need to start publicizing the website once it's established and functional, not just online but also in communities with flyers and pamphlets made freely available.

i am certainly interested in this concept. I currently live in Calgary, Alberta, and after the Canadian legislature puts its new piracy law in affect; i am sure that lots of more people will participate. Our current goal is to advertise. Eg; on websites news channels, the canadian broadcasting corporation :!:

While advertising is a good idea, I think large scale advertising should be held off until there is a significant community behind the idea of the party.

I want to state again, that since the pirateparty.ca website is down, we should use this wiki until a better site can be established:
http://pirateparty.wikia.com/

Obviously for now, this board will make due as a proper forum for organizing.

The best thing you can do is tell everyone you know and try to get them involved.

New here, hello.
In addition to all the possible venues mentioned earlier, I suggest canvassing in part of everyone here, of their immediate social groups. See who knows what, who's interested etc. and start forming little interest groups. Direct them to this site, facilitate discussions. I have maybe one friend who's studying law (and I myself hope to major in Political Science) so I'm thinking of starting a small research group with my friends.

But most importantly, I'm focusing on spreading the message. I am going to lend my full support to any positive actions taken on behalf of this cause.
