April 18 is the founding day of Pirate Parties International
The following statement was prepared by our General Secretary Alexander Isavnin in honor of our 16th birthday. The original version of the statement in Russian is pasted below. On April 18, 2010, a conference was held in Brussels where representatives of pirate parties from different countries agreed to create a shared international association. This was how Pirate Parties International, also known as the Pirate International, came into being. The Pirate Party of Russia is a co-founder of the International and an integral part of the international pirate movement. This is enshrined in our Program and Charter.
