Resilience in Germany: A Fragile State of Preparedness

Germany’s ability to ensure societal resilience has significantly declined in recent decades according to political scientist and PPI alternate board member Schoresch Davoodi. In a working paper, he warns that political complacency and socio-economic mismanagement expose the country to multifaceted vulnerabilities. Germany celebrated the stability of the 1990s and early 2000s without preparing for the disruptive forces of digital transformation, globalization, and geopolitical shifts. The nation’s overdependence on exports, Chinese markets, and Russian energy, coupled with a slow digital transition, creates strategic weaknesses. Neglecting critical infrastructure, particularly information technology and public services, renders Germany susceptible to cyberattacks and external shocks. Pirates at the Paris Defence and Strategy Forum

Our colleague from the Pirate Party of Germany in Munich, Alexander Kohler, recently attended the Paris Defence and Strategy Forum (PDSF). The event was held at the École Militaire in Paris from March 11 to 13. The 2025 forum was themed “Europe at the Crossroads”. The event focused on defense alliances, geopolitical challenges, and the evolving global landscape. Mr. Kohler is the leader of the Pirate Security Conference, which takes place in February each year. Reviewing the Pirate Security Conference

The 10th annual Pirate Security Conference took place on Feb. 17 and 18, 2024. This event is organized by our friends at Pirate Party of Germany with assistance from Pirate Parties International and additional partners. It takes place under the backdrop of the Munich Security Conference. This year we had perhaps the best lineup of speakers ever.
