A Review of the 2019 PPI General Assembly

The PPI 2019 GA has officially ended, but it appears that we will have another GA in the near future. We want to take this opportunity to share a review of the GA. As many of you know our yearly General Assembly is held on December 7th and 8th. But from tomorrow you will be able to debate motions and give input through Discourse. This years assembly, GA hereafter, will be purely online. To do that we have set up software to make sure everything runs smoothly and that everyone gets heard. Stop the Violence in Chile! The Pirate Party of Chile (PPCL) is calling on other Pirate parties to intercede with their governments to demand an end to violence against citizens and the state of emergency from the government of President Sebastián Piñera in Chile. Dear Pirates, We are pleased to announce that the 2019 PPI General Assembly will take place on the weekend of December 7th and 8th, and it will be entirely online. Please use the following form to sign up for the event: http://bit.ly/PPIGA2019 After you fill in this form, starting on the 1st of December you will get access to three places: a Discourse forum for debates, the meeting room in Discord, and Congressus for the agenda and meeting minutes. On July 19, 2019 Pirates gathered again in New York City for the UN Sustainable Development Program and High Level Political Forum Pirate Parties International was chosen as one of 34 NGOs whose statements were approved to be made in front of the entire ECOSOC council. Dr. Ohad Shem Tov presented the following speech on behalf of PPI at the ECOSOC High-Level Segment. This past week Pirate representatives Alex Kohler and Pat Mächler visited the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) at the United Nations Office At Geneva (UNOG). PPI has an amazing opportunity as a recognized member of the UN Economic and Social Affairs Committee (ECOSOC) to host and attend UN events in NY, Geneva, and around the world. We are working to make a difference by sending representatives to events who will voice our opinions and network with policy makers. Israel Elections on April 9th. Pirates breaking the threshold!

The Pirate Party of Israel is participating in national elections, which will take place on April 9th, and they don’t stand a chance. However, this does not keep them from promoting change in society, and they are running a fierce campaign suggesting a way to break past barriers between the public and policy makers and overturn the system.
