As part of our ongoing effort to connect the international Pirate community, we are reviewing and translating recent news from various Pirate Parties into English. This week, we highlight important reports from the Pirate Party of Slovenia, covering issues of corruption in green energy projects, technological sovereignty, and energy policy in Europe. As will be noted, much of their news is not country specific but reflects wider European issues. Happy 15th Birthday to the Pirate Party of Switzerland!

15 Years of the Pirate Party of Switzerland Fifteen years ago (July 12th, 2009), the Swiss Pirate Party was formed. Initially there were 124 members who came together in Zurich to form the party. They shared a vision of promoting digital rights, transparency, and freedom in an increasingly surveilled world. Today they continue their efforts together with many other Pirate parties around the world. They have (co-)launched numerous initiatives, given a voice to critical issues and created grassroots level changes in Swiss society. AI Working Group Review

The AI Working Group convened for its 3rd meeting immediately after the social media working group. We had a lot of new faces who brought different ideas about the types of AI activities that we should engage. We began with updates on building the Ollama AI and a Python server. Since the main leaders of those projects were not present, we will need to have another meeting to discuss these projects in more detail.  We devoted time to establishing task assignments. We discussed leveraging the open-source Scrum Board software. Participants provided ideas on other AI platforms, such as Mistral. We also discussed using existent AI models and some of our …

The PPCZ STAN Coalition

The Czech Pirates approved the coalition agreement with the STAN movement. They are going to the 2021 parliamentary elections together! Prague, January 12 2021 – The Czech Pirates just approved a coalition agreement with the “Mayors and Independents” movement (STAN) in a final vote. They confirmed that they are going together to the upcoming parliamentary elections. Almost 79% of party members supported the proposal.
