Monthly Pirate Social + PPI Board Meeting

Hello everyone, On Friday, July 30th at 19:00 UTC/21:00 CEST/15:00 EDT we will have our monthly PPI social, also known as “Pirate Beer”. This is an informal gathering for Pirates from around the world to network and socialize. There is no formal agenda. A few days later, there will be a meeting of the PPI board on Wednesday, August 4th at 14:00 UTC/16:00 CEST/10:00 EDT. Elections in Israel with HaPiratim!

HaPiratim! The Pirate Party of Israel is running again in elections!   For the 4th time in just over 2 years there are early elections in Israel, making this the 6th time since 2012 that the Pirates will participate in national elections.   Dr. Ohad Shem Tov (picture above, right) is leading the list this time, followed by the retired Israeli TV producer and longtime Pirate Dan Biron. The Czech Pirates approved the coalition agreement with the STAN movement. They are going to the 2021 parliamentary elections together! Prague, January 12 2021 – The Czech Pirates just approved a coalition agreement with the “Mayors and Independents” movement (STAN) in a final vote. They confirmed that they are going together to the upcoming parliamentary elections. Almost 79% of party members supported the proposal. Freedom To Share is looking for translators quickly!

Freedom To Share needs one million signatures! They will start collecting them on November 15th. @darccio from @partit_pirata shares this link where you can go to contribute. The Freedom To Share initiative needs one million signatures calling for protecting the right to share files for personal use and non-profits. There will be a pre-GA technical test Friday, November 6th, starting at 8:00pm CET.

There will be a technical test on November 6th to see if BigBlueButton will work for a General Assembly. The BBB channel can be found here. The times are: 8:00pm CET / 7:00pm UTC / 2:00pm EST It’s important all members send at least 1 delegate to this test. Anyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to do so in order to better test BigBlueButton for next month’s online General Assembly. The General Assembly will be held Saturday, December 5th and Sunday, December 6th. The Pirate Party Luxembourg @Piratepartei has started a fundraiser to help the refugees in Moria.

Two months ago fires destroyed Greece’s largest migrant camp on the island of Lesbos leaving nearly 13,000 without shelter. Gilles from @Piratepartei sent this to the PPEU Mattermost on October 26th: Hello everybody, FYI: PPLU has started an action together with the ONG Boderline Europe to help refugees in Moria (Greece). The collected funds will be used to buy warm clothes (essentially good shoes and socks) to the asylum seekers during the winter. For 30€, every donator receives a special “Coffee to help” mug and a reusable face mask. 100% of the donations will be directly forwarded to the refugees.
