Next AI Working Group Meeting on March 16th @ 19:00 UTC

We will hold the next AI working group meeting on March 16th on our Jitsi channel: https://jitsi.pirati.cz/PPI-Board The following is a summary of the upcoming event: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ai-working-group-tickets-851132860297 We are planning to hold the event around this same time, once a month. The last meeting was on February 24th. The AI Working Group meeting focused on exploring AI’s potential in supporting individual Pirate Parties and Pirates. Discussions covered AI applications, including the creation of a Python server for information leverage, training models, and hosting. Google and OpenAI were highlighted for their robust features. Geneva Course to Stop Espionage and Surveillance

Pirate Parties International’s UNOG representative Carlos Parlo arrived yesterday for the opening event of the 55th Geneva Course conducted by Geneva for Human Rights – Global Training & Policy Studies. The course is taking place during the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council, from March 5 to March 22, 2024. As can be seen by the photos, the topics that they are promoting this year tie in clearly with Pirate policies to stop surveillance and espionage. Reviewing the Pirate Security Conference

The 10th annual Pirate Security Conference took place on Feb. 17 and 18, 2024. This event is organized by our friends at Pirate Party of Germany with assistance from Pirate Parties International and additional partners. It takes place under the backdrop of the Munich Security Conference. This year we had perhaps the best lineup of speakers ever. A newspaper article was written about the conference and how it highlighted the issue of drone warfare. We are thrilled to share that Pirate Parties International has once again secured ground passes, allowing our representatives to participate at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland (UNOG). We also have a team on the ground at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and will be sharing a separate blog about their activities soon. Pirate Parties International expresses its strong condemnation of the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine. We are deeply saddened by the events in the region and extend our solidarity to the people of both nations who are suffering the consequences of this protracted conflict. We firmly reject violence and advocate for a peaceful and diplomatic solution. We encourage Palestinians and Israelis to pave the way for an enduring peace. PPI Sends Delegates To The United Nations’ Internet Governance Forum

From October 7th to 12th PPI sent two of its board members, Alexander Isavnin and Keith Goldstein, to the UN’s Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Kyoto, Japan. They were joined by many other colleagues, some of whom are also Pirates formally and informally in Japan and around the world. The IGF fosters collaboration between organizations in order to shape the future of the internet. The event takes place each year in a different country. PPI has participated in the IGF several times in the past, as it is one of the most relevant UN events for us. We hosted a virtual booth, spoke in talks, and attended numerous sessions. Recordings …
