Dear Pirates, We are pleased to announce that the 2019 PPI General Assembly will take place on the weekend of December 7th and 8th, and it will be entirely online. Please use the following form to sign up for the event: http://bit.ly/PPIGA2019 After you fill in this form, starting on the 1st of December you will get access to three places: a Discourse forum for debates, the meeting room in Discord, and Congressus for the agenda and meeting minutes. Speech at the 2019 UN ECOSOC High-Level Segment

On July 19, 2019 Pirates gathered again in New York City for the UN Sustainable Development Program and High Level Political Forum Pirate Parties International was chosen as one of 34 NGOs whose statements were approved to be made in front of the entire ECOSOC council. Speech at The United Nations Commission for Social Development

On February 19th, 2019 Dr. Ohad Bar Siman-Tov presented the following speech at the 57th UN Commission for Social Development (CSocD57) at UN Headquarters in New York. Pirates at the UNOG

This past week Pirate representatives Alex Kohler and Pat Mächler visited the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) at the United Nations Office At Geneva (UNOG). PPI has an amazing opportunity as a recognized member of the UN Economic and Social Affairs Committee (ECOSOC) to host and attend UN events in NY, Geneva, and around the world. We are working to make a difference by sending representatives to events who will voice our opinions and network with policy makers. EU elections 2019: Top Pirate Candidate interviews organized by PPEU and PPI

In cooperation with the eminent Rico Brouwer at Potkaars, (production), we proudly present the first three Top Candidate/Spitzenkandidaten interviews with non other than outgoing Member of Parliament Julia Reda from the German Pirate Party, Chair of the European Pirate Party and second on the list for the Czech Pirate Party – Markéta Gregorová. Israel Elections on April 9th. Pirates breaking the threshold!

The Pirate Party of Israel is participating in national elections, which will take place on April 9th, and they don’t stand a chance. However, this does not keep them from promoting change in society, and they are running a fierce campaign suggesting a way to break past barriers between the public and policy makers and overturn the system. Let’s make it happen! More pirates in the EU Parliament! From the 23rd to the 26th of May, all EU-countries will be having elections again to vote for the European Parliament. The recent copyright directive that has passed is just another confirmation of what we already know: We need pirates in the European Parliament! PPI Official Statement: Supporting the Fight Against the EU Copyright Directive

For the last several weeks, activists all over the world have been mobilizing against the EU’s proposed Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market, and the threats it poses to internet freedom and civil liberties, specifically through Articles 11 and 13.    This mobilization is working under a couple of different names, including ‘Save Your Internet’ and ‘Stop ACTA2’. Organizers come from all walks of life and many of them are Pirates, in some cases representing and working through their national parties, in other cases working independently or with other digital and human rights groups.
