Pirate Parties International wishes for all of its members, non-members and citizens of the world to remain safe and healthy. We present this statement as one of both hope and concern for everyone to get through the current COVID-19 crisis. In these months we face a dire situation on our planet. Greetings Pirates, A few months have passed since our General Assembly in December. The PPI board, along with the Pirate community at large, have been working hard.  In addition to ongoing projects, regular online meetings and social events, we have increased activities and communication with our members through the launch of 4 standing committees. Dear Friends,  The WHO have called the new COVID-19 illness, which is currently spreading, a global pandemia. As a result countries are taking drastic measures, limiting international travel and big gatherings. Yet the virus spread seems to closely follow an exponential curve, meaning that we all need to take precautions to slow down the infection rate, in order to protect the people in higher risk groups. The situation of international travel bans and country lockdowns is changing rapidly every day. The Prague Think Twice Conference, April 24-26

The title of this year’s Think Twice Conference is Ante Portas (near future technologies and their implications). Below you will find information about speaking at the event, as well as basic information about attending the conference. Think Twice is an international conference organized by Pirate Parties International, Pirate Party of Czechia and MEP Markéta Gregorová of parliamentary group Greens/ EFA. There will be no admission fee for this year’s Think Twice Conference. However, people can support the conference with voluntary donations. The event is entirely non-profit. Pirate Statement on Homelessness for the United Nations

The following statement was made by Pirate Parties International headquarters (PPI HQ) for the Commission for Social Development (CSocD58) conference [1] on “affordable housing and social protection systems for all to address homelessness”. This year is special for the CSocD, which is celebrating 75 years. PPI’s statement now appears on the UN website. https://undocs.org/E/CN.5/2020/NGO/44E_CN.5_2020_NGO_44_E Pirate Parties International (PPI) concludes in this paper that technology-based tools such as internet crowd sourcing of information and low threshold access to resource information better targets help where it’s needed.
