2024 UNOG Participation

We are thrilled to share that Pirate Parties International has once again secured ground passes, allowing our representatives to participate at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland (UNOG). We also have a team on the ground at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and will be sharing a separate blog about their activities soon. Furthermore, we are working now on getting a team together to participate at the UN Office in Vienna (UNOV). They want to let the PPI community know about these great events. Aaron Swartz, born on November 8th, 1986, was an activist dedicated to an open Internet, freedom and transparency. He was hounded by the US government for sharing JSTOR research articles that we largely paid for, but that a small number of corporations have locked up in for-profit journals. He spent the fortune he received from the sale of Reddit on his legal defense. Living with depression and facing 50 years in prison and $1 million in fines, he took his own life. He died …
