Board Meeting Review, Next Meeting June 18

PPI will hold its next board meeting on June 18th at 14:00 UTC Where: https://jitsi.pirati.cz/PPI-Board Agenda: https://ga.pp-international.net/c/ppiboard/31 On June 19 we will hold the AI working group, also on the same Jitsi channel. Minutes from the last board meeting are available here: https://wiki.pp-international.net/wiki/index.php?title=PPI_Minutes_2024-05-28 To summarize our last meeting in one sentence, we discussed European elections, Russian elections, an unofficial Pirate beer gathering that took place and plans to organize another Pirate beer soon, PPI technology, finances, social media guidelines and establishing a permanent admin for accounts with a sim card and official email, ECOSOC/UN matters, and unattended board member seats. We hope to see everyone soon at another meeting.

Social Media Guidelines

The following are guidelines for admins who would like to present content on our social media accounts. These guidelines were established by PPI Board Member Bailey Lamon and the SCENE working group. Members who would like to share content with us should simply send an email or message to the board of PPI or a member who has admin access. AI Working Group Review

The AI Working Group convened for its 3rd meeting immediately after the social media working group. We had a lot of new faces who brought different ideas about the types of AI activities that we should engage. We began with updates on building the Ollama AI and a Python server. Since the main leaders of those projects were not present, we will need to have another meeting to discuss these projects in more detail.  We devoted time to establishing task assignments. We discussed leveraging the open-source Scrum Board software. Participants provided ideas on other AI platforms, such as Mistral. We also discussed using existent AI models and some of our …

The last meeting was on February 24th. The AI Working Group meeting focused on exploring AI’s potential in supporting individual Pirate Parties and Pirates. Discussions covered AI applications, including the creation of a Python server for information leverage, training models, and hosting. Google and OpenAI were highlighted for their robust features. Geneva Course to Stop Espionage and Surveillance

Pirate Parties International’s UNOG representative Carlos Parlo arrived yesterday for the opening event of the 55th Geneva Course conducted by Geneva for Human Rights – Global Training & Policy Studies. The course is taking place during the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council, from March 5 to March 22, 2024. As can be seen by the photos, the topics that they are promoting this year tie in clearly with Pirate policies to stop surveillance and espionage. Reviewing the Pirate Security Conference

The 10th annual Pirate Security Conference took place on Feb. 17 and 18, 2024. This event is organized by our friends at Pirate Party of Germany with assistance from Pirate Parties International and additional partners. It takes place under the backdrop of the Munich Security Conference. This year we had perhaps the best lineup of speakers ever. A newspaper article was written about the conference and how it highlighted the issue of drone warfare.
