Czech Pirates are joining the new government! In a momentous vote, the Czech Pirates (Česká pirátská strana) approved their participation in the forming five-party coalition government. Thus set to make the Czechs the very first Pirate Party being a member of a government; in the entire world. In early October, the election took place. And for the Czech Pirates, it was an extremely bittersweet victory. They run on a joint ticket together with the STAN party (Mayors and Independents) and with 15,6 % of the vote got 37 MPs in the 200-seat lower house. Dear Pirates, It’s that time again! As we move into the final stretch of this year, it is time to start preparing for our main General Assembly of the year. Due to problems finding suitable dates in December this year, we are pleased to announce that the PPI General Assembly will take place on January 8th and 9th of 2022. Our last GA was on July 3rd and it was only one day long. This next GA will need to be 2 days because will have a much larger agenda. Dear Pirates, We would like to invite you to a meeting of the SCENE committee on Wednesday, October 13th. The topic for this meeting is the Google Ad Grant [1] which PPI has been approved for, as well as an exchange of experiences about online advertisement by Pirate Parties in general. The Google Ad Grant is a grant of up to 10,000 USD per month in Google search ads for approved NGOs. It is a tool for gaining visibility and in turn, raising awareness and gaining support for one’s cause(s). Pirate Security Conference Aug. 14 and 15

This weekend, Aug. 14 and 15, 2021, the annual Pirate Security Conference will take place. The title of this year’s conference is “New Horizons – Multidimensional World Politics and Security Aspects”. While the event is usually held physically, alongside the Munich Security Conference in February, due to health concerns revolving around the COVID-19 situation, and ongoing cancellations, it was decided to hold the event online.
